So, how do you like it so far? It often takes a few weeks to fully adjust to a new sleep surface because your body might still be used to the feel of your previous mattress. This is perfectly normal, and the phase will pass soon enough. So give it at least 30 nights to make your decision.
After the initial break-in period, you’ll have up until night 120 to decide whether to keep your new Douglas mattress. If you choose to return it, we’ll arrange for it to be picked up and sent to a local charity. You’ll get a full refund once your mattress has been collected. Oh, and we help arrange that part, too!

How does the 120 night trial work?
The 120-night sleep trial is our guarantee that comes with every Douglas mattress. From the day your new Douglas mattress arrives, you’ll have 120 nights to make sure it’s right for you. If not, let us know and we’ll arrange for it to be picked up and then refund all your money.
It generally takes a few weeks both for your body to adapt to a new sleep surface and for the mattress to soften to its intended firmness. For this reason, we require that you sleep on your Douglas for a minimum of 30 days before you can initiate a return.
Are returns free?
Yes, returns are free within the 120-night trial. No return delivery costs. No restocking or recycling fees. And no need to buy additional accessories just for the sleep trial or warranty to apply.

How do I return a mattress?
If you wish to return your mattress, contact us anytime between nights 30 and 120 of your sleep trial. We will arrange for your Douglas to be picked up from your home and either donated to a nearby community organization (preferably) or a local recycling partner. Once picked up, we will issue your refund. The return timeline may vary depending on your region and which local partners are available.
To get started, simply log into your account or email our customer care team directly with your order number in the subject line. We will respond within 1 or 2 business days to arrange the return.
Where does my mattress go when I return it?
We never re-sell or restock returned mattresses in any capacity. Gently used mattresses are a blessing to those in need, and Douglas is proud to donate returned mattresses to local charities and community organizations. If we cannot donate it due to relevant provincial or municipal bylaws, we’ll have it picked up by a trusted recycling partner. (Yes, every part of the mattress is recyclable!)
How long does it take to get a refund?
Your refund will be initiated within 48 business hours after your mattress has been picked up. Once processed, the refund can take between 2 to 5 business days to show up on your banking records. We are only able to refund to the original source of payment.
Do I need to put the mattress back into the box?
No. Fortunately, there is no need to struggle to stuff the mattress back into its box. (That took an industrial compressing machine to do in the first place.) We’ll pick it up in its fully expanded state.
However, please keep the plastic packaging the mattress arrived in. We use that to keep the mattress in good shape on its way to its new home.
